Diversion

I, excited to get into the fabled lake, was climbing up a cliff. Not too high, but not too low.
I could see, in the corners of my eyes, the vibrant flora lining the lake's edges.
I stepped backwards a bit, preparing to run and jump into the hopefully cold and clear water.

I ran off the side, jumping as high and far as I could...

And then, I broke my arms on the painted blue ground...

The water was a lie...

The lake was a lie...

My dreams were as broken as my limbs...
